How to use this. Run it once when you set up a wallet, then again whenever you add a new device, token or exchange. It takes about ten minutes.
Before you start
- Write your seed phrase on paper or metal — never a screenshot, notes app or email draft.
- Keep the backup offline, in a second location, and never type the phrase into a website, “wallet checker” or support chat.
- Use a hardware wallet for anything beyond a few weeks of spending.
- Type the wallet URL yourself and check the domain before you connect.
- Avoid wallet transactions on public Wi-Fi; use a trusted private network.
Every transaction
- Verify the token contract address on an explorer — lookalike tokens are common.
- Send a small test amount first, then the rest.
- Check the network and gas fee before you confirm.
- Review token approvals and revoke anything you no longer use.
Ongoing hygiene
- Enable two-factor authentication wherever it is offered.
- Install wallet and firmware updates promptly — they close known issues.
- Keep the seed backup in a second, offline location.
If something goes wrong
- If a phrase or key leaked, move the funds to a new wallet immediately — do not wait.
- No legitimate “recovery service” needs your seed phrase. Treat anyone who asks as a thief.
The one ruleNo legitimate service will ever ask for your seed phrase or private key. If someone does, it is a scam.
